Over half of all internet searches are now done from mobile devices. A significant portion of your potential customers are using their smart phones, iPads and tablets to search for your products and services.
Google has now announced that as of April 21st, the mobile-friendliness of a website will “affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results.”
Even those of us who don’t sell our products online but simply use our site to introduce potential clients to our company and our services must be ready for this change for two reasons:
- Poor search ranking makes your business hard to find. If your site is currently ranking on the first page of Google for your services and related keywords, you will see a significant drop in website traffic after April 21st if your site is not mobile-friendly. Being dropped in rank from the first to the second page of search results for key search results is akin to locking your front door and passing out competitors’ brochures at your front desk.
- Your potential clients are turned away by a site that isn’t mobile friendly. A website represents a significant investment, and rightly so. If it doesn’t look and act appropriately on mobile devices, you are losing up to 60% of your potential clients right now. Creating a mobile friendly site is a very simple way to immediately improve your potential clients’ impression of your company immediately.
To put the importance of these items into perspective, think about your own online behavior.
When making a Google search, how frequently do you explore the 2nd, 3rd or 4th pages of Google search results? Realistically, there may be millions of search results for any given search – but most of us simply click one of the top three results.
How quickly do you hit the “back” button on your browser when a site is unattractive or is hard to navigate? We have little time for poorly designed sites that don’t facilitate our quest for information. This is doubly true when searching on our cell phones. We need the information we are looking for now – before the light turns green.
This Google update is so important that Worry Free Marketing has taken steps to increase our delivery capacity for websites. We can rapidly analyze your site to determine what steps need to be made to get your site mobile-ready, and can update your site with a new mobile-ready theme by April 21st so your site isn’t penalized by Google and your company doesn’t disappear from the online space.
To do this, we have drastically streamlined our website production and lined up a series of new developers. Our goal over the next 3 weeks is to provide every company who needs a mobile site with a rapid and professional turnaround, taking your existing website content and giving it a new, modern theme that is mobile-ready.
If you suspect that your site may not be mobile-friendly, we will look at it for free and provide a report and recommendations within 24 hours. Simply fill out our Free Website Analysis and let us know that you’d like your site reviewed for mobile-readiness or call Matt D’Rion at (314)884-0010 right now.
